ACTIVITIES/ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENT BEYOND SYLLABUS SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES:
Student participation is a normal feature of the department in essay, debate and quiz competition, cultural activities like sports and inter college competitions and other activities.
Student participated as traffic volunteers during nabakalebara festival of 2015. They were UpendraMallick, Vishal Gochhayat, ManasranjanNaik and Rudra parkas Nag.
Student participated in blood donation camp and donated blood organised by health and family welfare deptt. Govt. of on 20nd Oct. 2015. They were Rudraprakas Nag and Pareshnath from +3 2ndyr Hon’s.

1. Mihirranjan Swain, 2011-14 admission batch attended P.M. Rally in the year 2013, Awarded Rajib Gandhi Puraskar for best N.C.C. cadet of Odisha.
2. JogendraJani, 3rd year Honours – participation in the open- rating National Chess Tournament for the blind.
3. Sanjay Hembram, 3rd year Honours – Gold medal in N.C.C.
4. SubhenduSekharNaik, 3rd year Honours – Runners – up in this volley Ball in National Integration Camp held at Jaisalmer (Rajasthan).

STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME:
STUDY TOURS:
Department conducts study tour programmes. Student and staff went to Buddhist sites of Orissa (lalitgiri and Ratnagiri) in the year 2012 and Kantilo (Nilamadhava Temple)in the year 2014.
In theacademic session 2014-15 students and staff visited temples sites (Rajarani and Mukteswar). Visit of student was also to State Museum Odisha
In the following Academic of 2015-16 student and faculty of the Dept. visited the historic site of Kapilash on 3rd February 2016.
GUEST LECTURES:
Guest lecturers/seminars are an important feature of seminars activity in every academic section. These are followed by student interaction or question-answer sessions where student and members of the staff attend activity participate

NATIONAL SEMINARS:
Department of history organized Orissa History Congress (32nd annual session) in the year 2011. (From 26th to 27th Feb)
The department also organized UGC sponsored national seminar jointly with department of education on 16th Sept.2012.
PHOTO EXHIBITION:
The department organized a photo exhibition in 2011,26th-28th February on Heritage Awareness. The exhibition was done by National Mission on Monuments and Antiquations and Archaeological Survey of India, Bhubaneswar circle
DEPARTMENT PROVISIONS:
Board of Studies was convened by the department to frame the syllabus, prepare list of question setters and examiners for each academic session. In the current academic session 2015-16, Board of studies was convened constituting of department members, nominee of vice chancellor, Utkal University, other college teachers. New syllabus was framed as per choice based credit system according to UGC Guidelines.
Board of Studies was also convenedto form the CBCS syllabus for Second year and Third year Degree courses on 26 .08. 2016 in the Academic Session of 2016-17. Department faculties, other college teachers, and vice-Chancellor’s nominee form the syllabus and made a lot of question setting and examine for the current and fore coming session.
DEPARTMENT LIBRARY:
The dept. has a seminar library with 460 books for circulation among students and teaching faculty. Reference books are also there in the library
QUESTION BANK:
Faculty member of the department of history made asset of questions of different papers for hons., elective and compulsory Indian society and culture. These have been compiled into a booklet as question bank. The question is useful for hons. and elective students as they get a variety of questions and they prepare accordingly for the semester end exam.
PROCTORIAL CLASS:
There is provision for proctorial class for the honours students. Proctors (teachers) are assigned to group of honours students. Problems of students both academic and non-academic are attended by their respective proctors.
PARENT -- TEACHER MEETING
Parent teacher meeting is held time to time in each academic session for all the 3 years honours batch. In the current academic session such meeting was held on 1.10.2015. The purpose of such interactionis to create academic awareness among students and to make it more effective through parental alertness and cooperation. The consensus that emerged from the meeting is that there should be frequent meeting for better and more equitable distribution of responsibilities between teacher and parent for total academic up gradation.
